The Nicholas County Animal Welfare
Society was founded in 2008, with the
goal of helping homeless animals in
Nicholas County, Kentucky. We are a
501c3 organization.
We receive no county or state funding,
and rely entirely upon donations and
fundraising to help our animals. We have
found new homes for hundreds of stray
animals, and reduced the county's
euthanasia rate by 80%. Our future plans
include building a new animal shelter,
offering spay-neuter programs,
educational outreach, fundraising events,
and youth programs.
Currently, the Nicholas County shelter
only accepts stray dogs picked up by
animal control. Owner turn-ins cannot be
accommodated at this time, though photos
can be posted as a courtesy for those
looking to re-home an animal.
